Competitive

  • Allstar Prep Teams

The Prep program is designed for athletes of all ages, with no prior experience necessary. It's the perfect entry point for athletes who are newer to the sport of all-star cheerleading. Athletes may come from other foundational programs like Fundamentals, Cheer 101, or Mid-Season, or they may be brand new to cheer altogether.

    Commitment Level:

Practice: Twice a week, for a total of three hours.

Competitions: Typically, athletes attend five events per season (from December to April), with competitions being local or in-state, so there’s minimal travel, and all events are one-day competitions.

Uniform: Prep athletes wear a cheerleading uniform, which is less expensive than an Elite uniform.

    Focus:

Prep athletes participate in full-blown cheerleading, learning jumps, tumbling, stunts, and a complete routine including a dance.

It's an ideal program for athletes to develop foundational cheer skills and learn what it's like to be on a team and compete.

Most athletes stay in the Prep program for one to three years, working towards the goal of eventually making an Elite team.

While it’s a committed program, it offers more flexibility compared to Elite in terms of time and commitment.

  • Allstar Elite Teams

The Elite program is geared toward athletes who are fully committed to competitive all-star cheerleading and are looking for more intense skill development, higher competition levels, and larger-scale events.

    Commitment Level:

Practice: Athletes practice between 4 to 6 hours a week.

Competitions: Elite teams attend larger national events, often requiring travel to major locations such as Dallas, Florida, and Las Vegas. These are typically two-day competitions and may include prestigious events like the Summit or Worlds.

Ages: Athletes in the Elite program range from as young as 4 years old up to 19 years old.

Uniform: The Elite uniform is a full-fledged all-star uniform complete with all the sparkly, eye-catching details. This uniform represents the high level of commitment expected from Elite athletes.

Focus: The focus remains on skill development and fun, but Elite athletes are preparing to compete at the highest levels of all-star cheerleading.

Many athletes in the Elite program aim to continue cheerleading in college, and Elite participation helps them achieve that goal.

The program is full-season, starting with tryouts in May and running through April, similar to the Prep program but with a much larger scope in terms of travel, commitment, and competition.

Athletes are grouped based on age, skill level, and experience to ensure they are in the best environment for learning and growth. For competitive teams, placements are determined through tryouts held in May.

  • Can I watch my child during practices or lessons?

Yes, parents are welcome to watch practices from designated viewing areas. We kindly ask parents to avoid interrupting practice to ensure the athletes and coaches can stay focused.

    • Elite Teams: Practice 4-6 hours per week, depending on the team.

For recreational classes, athletes are credited with a make-up token for missed sessions. This token can be used to attend another class at their level or even explore a different department, such as dance or swim, through AKSC’s variety of programs. For competitive teams, we encourage athletes to attend all practices, but if they must miss, we ask parents to notify the coach in advance.
