Enrollment Steps

Step 1

Receive referral & approval from Kern Regional Service Coordinator for your student to receive classes and funding for American Kids.

Step 2

Create an online account at AKSC.com

  • Parent/Guardian will need to complete all information including name, address, phone number, email and payment information. Although Kern Regional will be covering the cost of Membership Fees and Tuition, a card is required on file for all accounts. (Student will not be added to a waitlist until all items are complete)
  • Student information including full name and date of birth

Step 3

Contact our Vendor Specialist, Shelby at ShelbyR@AKSC.com to finalize your online account and receive waitlist application.

Reminder, students may only occupy (1) waitlist at a time.

Step 4

Look out for communication from our Vendor Sepcialist in regards to program openings. Openings will be offered to students based on their position on the waitlist.

  • Private classes are extremely limited. As evening & weekend classes are most popular, it is not recommended to pass on openings in hopes for a specific day/time.
  • If students are offered openings (3) times in a row and do not accept a class, they will be moved to the bottom of the list.
  • Openings are offered on a first come, first serve basis. We offer multiple openings at once and will reach out to a small group of students from the waitlists at a time. If your desired time slot has been filled, your student will remain on the waitlist for future openings.
  • Email is our #1 form of communication. Due to the large number of students interested in our private programs we simply cannot make calls to each person on the waitlist with openings.

SAFETY INFORMATION

At American Kids safety is our number one priority for both students and instructors. With that said, we do need all active students to be able to follow instructions when asked. If a student is running out of the gym and/or pool, hitting, choking, biting, experiencing potty accidents etc. we will communicate with the parents to help the instructor by assisting and/or removing the student from said program.

All students under the age of 3.5 or those who are not potty trained are required to wear a reusable swim pant while participating in any of our swim classes.

If a student has repeated accidents in the pool or gym the student will be dismissed from the program. Dismissal will be determined by the program director.

Please remember that our staff are trained on how to coach in their specific discipline but are not certified therapists and will not offer physical therapy to students.

Need to know

Special Abilities Instructor & Student
  • Can a student make up a missed private class?

No. AKSC's private classes cannot be made up. Any missed class is for-feited by the student.

  • Can a student change their scheduled class day/time?

No. Private classes cannot be changed once enrolled. Please ensure that your student is able to attend their full 8 weeks before committing to an enrollment.

  • How long will a student be on a waitlist?

Varies. With over 1,000 students interested in our private programs our waitlists average a 6 month minimum waiting period. This could change based on class availability.

  • Can siblings be in the same private class?

No. In order to provide the best experience for our students and instructors we only allow one student per private class.

  • Can my student be enrolled in more than one private class at a time?

No. In order to give as many students a chance as possible in these private classes, we limit each student to (1) private enrollment at a time. Even if Kern Regional Center has approved your student to receive funding for more than one private class, we cannot accomidate this.

  • Can a student request a specific location/day/time for their class?

Yes. However, openings are offered as they come up to the next group of students on the waitlist. If a student declines openings it could be weeks or months before something becomes available again. Once openings have been offered to a student 3 times the student will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist.
