"Building Healthy Kids" since 1984

Founded in 1984 as American Academy of Gymnastics, American Kids Sports Center (AKSC) has grown into one of California's most unique and successful kids sports center. Under the direction of owners Mike & Sheri Williams, AKSC has established an organization that sees its purpose as helping children to learn strong VALUES with which they will set worthy GOALS and for which we must train them in the SKILLS needed to achieve those goals. Sport training is the tool we use to achieve that purpose. These values & goals are carried out every day under the leadership of their children Matt Williams & Michelle Thelen.

But, we also understand that achieving that purpose can be done in a setting that is positive, uplifting, rewarding, and even entertaining. And the parent's comfort and enjoyment is as much our concern as is the child's. When you first enter one of our facilities, we believe you'll experience something you've never found with any of the other activities your child has been involved with. Our lobbies are spacious and clean. Our equipment is new and the most current available. The gym and lobby are air conditioned and parent viewing is the best anywhere! You have to experience it to understand how far we have gone to exceed your expectations!

Local & Family Owned for 40 years!
Two facilities located in Northwest & Southwest Bakersfield.
NW location is a newly constructed, 40,000 sq ft. facility, designed specifically for kids sports and activities. Spacious air conditioned gym for activities such as, Gymnastics, Dance, Swim lessons, Ninja Zone, Cheerleading, Tumbling & Trampoline and more. Equipped with the most advanced equipment, such as in-ground trampolines and tumble tracks, foam pits & airbag landings, spring & rod floors, high quality mats and even special equipment designed for Pre-k age kids!
SW facility is 30,000 sq ft of fun. Like the NW, this facility is a fully modern gym with all the bells and whistles. Does not have a swim program, but has an excellent baby's gymnastics upstairs!
Kern County's first of its kind indoor heated swimming pool for year-round lessons equipped with "Waveless Gutters" for the calmest water surface, duel commercial filters for the cleanest waters, and underwater music! Both our water AND air are heated for the most comfortable environment as kids get in and out of the water. This is a non-competitive learn-to-swim program associated with the US Swim School Association.
Dance rooms designed for comfortable parent viewing without distracting the students. By far the best parent viewing of any dance center! American Dancers Workshop has an over 50 year history in Bakersfield.
A cafe (NW only) with your favorite snacks & drinks for kids & parents in mind.
A pro shop for all your kids' activity needs as well as gift ideas for those special occasions.
